NOPD Arrests Suspect on Vehicle Burglary, Narcotics, Firearm Charges in Seventh District

On November 18, 2021, the NOPD arrested Wardell Young (pictured, black male, DOB: 08-22-2001) on vehicle burglary, narcotics and firearm charges.

 On November 18, NOPD Seventh District detectives with the NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad and the U.S. Marshals, executed a search warrant and arrest warrant for Young at his residence in the 4800 block of Viola Street. Young was found to have committed a vehicle burglary of an Orleans Parish Sheriff deputy’s vehicle in which two firearms were reported stolen. One of those firearms was located during execution of the search warrant, along with several other firearms, narcotics and property from unrelated vehicle burglaries in the First District.

Young was booked with illegal possession of stolen things, illegal possession of a Schedule I CDS, two counts of illegal possession of a Schedule II CDS, four counts of illegal carrying of a weapon while in possession of a CDS and four counts of violation of protective orders.
