NOPD Investigating Homicide in Sixth District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred this evening (November 1, 2020) in the 2300 block of 1st Street.

At about 7:40 p.m., NOPD Sixth District officers and EMS responded to a medical call at the location. Upon arrival, an unresponsive male was discovered lying in the street and with a gunshot wound(s). The subject was declared deceased at the scene.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are available at this time.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
