NOPD Investigating Homicide in Second District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred this evening (November 11, 2020) in the 4700 block of Thalia Street that left one person dead and a second injured.

At about 7:29 p.m., NOPD Second District officers responded to a report of an aggravated battery by shooting in the 1300 block of South Jefferson Davis Parkway. Upon arrival, officers found two victims - a male and a female - lying on the ground and suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The male victim was declared deceased at the scene, while the female victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are available at this time.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
