NOPD Arrests Suspects for Illegal Possession of Stolen Firearms in Separate Incidents

The NOPD has arrested two suspects in respective instances of possessing stolen firearms in the Seventh District, with one of the suspects also being arrested for an armed robbery that occurred earlier this year.

Corey Greathouse (pictured at left, DOB: 09-25-1990) was arrested on November 14, 2019 at the intersection of Chef Menteur Highway and Downmand Road. After receiving a complaint of a subject who had been banned from an apartment complex allegedly trespassing at the location, NOPD Seventh District officers arrived at the location. Upon seeing the officers, the subject – later identified as Greathouse – allegedly began to flee on foot. Officers pursued on foot and detained Greathouse in a field behind the location on Downman Road. During the arrest, officers found Gatehouse to be in possession of a fully loaded handgun. Greathouse was arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for illegal possession of a stolen firearm, illegal carrying of a weapon and flight from an officer.

Victor Leggett (pictured at right, DOB: 03-21-1991) was arrested in the 4000 block of Dale Street. After receiving a Crimestoppers tip that Leggett – who was wanted for an armed robbery that occurred in June of 2019 – was in the area and possibly armed, NOPD Seventh District officers went to the location and located Leggett. After Leggett was placed under arrest, a search of the residence revealed a loaded handgun located in a couch near where Leggett was sitting.

Leggett was arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for illegal possession of a stolen firearm by a convicted felon, illegal carrying of a weapon and armed robbery
