NOPD Searching for Suspect in Simple Assault on Elysian Fields Avenue

The NOPD is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying and locating an unknown male subject believed to be responsible for a simple assault that occurred on November 18, 2018 in the 1600 block of Elysian Fields Avenue.

The victim told police that on November 18, at about 5:05 a.m., he caught the above pictured suspect attempting to shoplift from the location. After confronting the subject, the subject reportedly left the location and allegedly returned shortly after with a black semi-automatic pistol. The subject then reportedly attempted to strike the victim with the handle of the firearm, but missed. The subject then fled the location on foot.

The subject is described as a black male standing about 5’10” with a medium build and thick two-inch braids in his hair. He was last seen wearing the above pictured clothing.
