NOPD Arrests Juvenile Suspect in Multiple Armed Robbery Incidents

The NOPD has arrested a 12-year-old juvenile male suspected to be responsible for two armed robbery incidents in the 5500 block of Crowder Boulevard.

On November 27, 2018, at approximately 2:00 p.m., the arrested juvenile allegedly attempted to rob a victim using a knife in parking lot of a Family Dollar store in the 5500 block of Crowder Boulevard. The victim was reportedly able to fend off the suspect, strike him in the face with her handbag and flee into the store, where she informed the store staff about the incident.

NOPD Seventh District officers responded to the incident. While responding, a juvenile male matching the description of the suspect was apprehended soon after the incident in the 4900 block of Gawain Drive. The suspect was positively identified as the perpetrator.

At the time of this arrest, NOPD Seventh District detectives determined that the suspect matched the description of the suspect in similar offense on November 25 in the same location. In that incident, the victim was reportedly leaving the Family Dollar store when she was approached by an unknown black juvenile male armed with a knife and demanding the victim’s money. The victim complied and gave the suspect her wallet – containing debit and credit cards – and the suspect fled the scene.

The arrested subject was booked into the Juvenile Justice Center for one count of attempted armed robbery and one count of armed robbery.

Anyone with additional information on these incidents is asked to contact NOPD Seventh District detectives at 504-658-6070.
