Suspect Wanted in Theft on Carlisle Street

The NOPD has obtained an arrest warrant for Lee Michael Mouton (DOB: 07-02-1971) in connection with a theft of a safe that occurred on October 30, 2017 in the 6000 block of Carlisle Street.

The victim in this incident told police that he and Mouton had gone to a football game and then returned to his residence at about 10 p.m.  At that time, the victim retrieved money from his safe. The victim told police that he and Mouton were close friends, therefore the victim trusted Mouton and allowed him to know the location of the safe and its key within the victim’s residence.

The victim further stated that he and Mouton then went out to drink and returned to the residence at about midnight on Oct. 30, at which time he fell asleep and left Mouton awake in the residence. When the victim awoke later that morning, he discovered the safe was missing. Surveillance video at the residence showed Mouton leaving the residence with a backpack that appeared to contain a large object, which the victim believed to be the safe.

Mouton is wanted on a charge of theft in this incident.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Lee Michael Mouton is asked to contact Fourth District detectives at 504-658-6040. Citizens with information that can help solve crimes are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
