'Coffee With Cops' returns this Saturday

This Saturday, residents and visitors are invited to enjoy a cup of coffee with NOPD’s finest at a pair of area McDonald’s restaurant.

“Coffee with Cops” will take place Saturday, November 18, from 9-11 a.m.. as attendees will have an opportunity to meet with patrol officers and enjoy a free cup of coffee.

The popular community policing event is a public-private partnership designed to bring together police officers and the communities they serve.

Hundreds of community members have interacted with officers and learned new ways that they can be more active in their neighborhoods.

Two McDonald’s locations in New Orleans are participating in the event, including:

  • 711 Canal Street
  • 4589 General Meyer Avenue

In addition to hosting this month’s “Coffee with Cops” events, the NOPD Officer of the Month Awards for September and October will be presented.

Local McDonald’s owner Chris Bardell started the program in October 2016 as a way to recognize NOPD officers for going above and beyond the call of duty on the job.

The officers selected will be awarded a $750 scholarship that the officer can used for  police training and leadership programs across the country.

NOPD Superintendent Michael Harrison will present the awards at 10 a.m. at the McDonald’s located at 711 Canal Street.
