Burglary Subject Captured in Second District

NEW ORLEANS - Quick work by NOPD officers from the Second District led to the apprehension of a burglary suspect.

On Monday, November 6, 2017 at about 5:40 a.m., the victim was inside of her residence sleeping when she was awakened.

The victim observed an unknown white male inside her residence.

At that point, the victim then ordered the unknown male to exit her residence. He then left.

Officer Steven Lewis was canvassing the area for the subject at which time he was flagged down by a victim in the 500 block of Cadiz Street.

The victim advised Officer Lewis that she had just observed an unknown white male inside her vehicle.

Lt. Kendrick Allen canvassed the area and apprehended the subject, later identified as Michael McCormack (DOB: February 12, 1998), at the intersection of Napoleon Avenue and Annunciation Street.

McCormack was found in possession of the victim’s keys to her residence and vehicle from the 4900 block of Tchoupitoulas Street.

McCormack was also wearing the victim’s UG boots that were taken from the vehicle in the 500 block of Cadiz Street.

McCormack was taken to central lock up and booked.
