The NOPD is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred today (November 11) at the intersection of Loyola Avenue and Foucher Street.
At about 3:47 p.m., Sixth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting in the area. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive male victim lying on the sidewalk near the intersection and suffering from gunshot wounds to the body. The victim was transported via EMS to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigation into the incident is ongoing. No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
