Minutes After Armed Robbery on Spain St., NOPD Officer Tracks Down and Arrests Suspect

NOPD Fifth District Officer Ladarius Johnson tracked down a man minutes after he and an unknown suspect allegedly robbed two women at gunpoint earlier today (Nov. 17) at the intersection of Spain and Marais Street.

Clarence Perkins (DOB: 3/23/1971) faces one count of armed robbery for his involvement in the incident.

It all happened around 12:39 p.m., officers responded to the call of an armed robbery at the location. At the scene, two female victims told police that two unknown males approached them in the area. The victims said one suspect, who was wearing a gray shirt, produced a firearm while Perkins reportedly snatched one of the victims’ purses during the incident. Based the description provided by the victims, Officer Johnson was able to quickly locate Perkins around 1 p.m. at the intersection of Franklin Avenue and North Villere Street.

Perkins was booked and transported to Central Lock-Up.
