New Orleans Police have arrested a suspect in the murder of Nicholas Dent, which occurred near the intersection of West Laverne Street and Erin Drive on May 2, 2026.
Arrested is Marcus McDaniel (pictured), Black male, DOB 11/05/2005.
According to investigators, Marcus McDaniel was identified by NOPD Homicide detectives as being the perpetrator of the murder and a warrant was obtained for his arrest.
Marcus McDaniel was taken into custody around 8:55 a.m. on May 21,2026, on the General De Gaulle Exit of US 90 West by NOPD Homicide detectives with the assistance of NOPD VCAIT and GRIP Units, the US Marshals, and the Louisiana State Police.
Marcus McDaniel was transported to the Orleans Parish Justice Center and booked on the charge of Second Degree Murder.
All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
