NOPD Investigating Homicide in Sixth District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide by shooting in the Sixth District that occurred on May 13, 2025.

At about 2:21 p.m., officers were called to a call of a male down in the area of 2nd street and Clara street.  Upon arrival, they discovered that victim, an adult male, lying in the street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the body.  The victim was pronounced on scene. 

Through the course of the investigation, detectives determined that the victim and the perpetrator were involved in an altercation, during which the perpetrator shot the victim.

The perpetrator was detained at the scene without incident and transported to the NOPD Homicide Division for questioning. At this time, the individual has been released without charges as the investigation remains ongoing and additional evidence is being gathered.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity upon notification of next of kin.
