The NOPD has arrested Charles C. Wilson III, black male DOB: 11-24-2001 in an armed carjacking that left a man wounded on May 8, 2023, in the Fourth District.

At about 5:30 a.m. the victim reported that he was driving near Shirley Drive and General DeGaulle Drive when he stopped briefly.  That's when the suspect jumped in his vehicle and ordered him at gunpoint to drive.

The victim drove to a local park where the suspect demanded his cell phone and vehicle keys.  The victim and suspect got into a struggle and the victim managed to run away.

The suspect then reportedly fired at the victim, striking him several times. The victim was taken to a hospital by EMS for treatment and was last reported in stable condition. 

Upon investigation, officers positively identified Charles C. Wilson, III as the alleged perpetrator in this incident. He has been charged with Armed Robbery with a Firearm, Aggravated Second Degree Battery, and Resisting an Officer.
