NOPD Investigating Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash in Seventh District

The NOPD is investigating a hit-and-run traffic fatality that occurred on May 10, 2022, at the intersection of Chef Menteur Highway and Downman Road that left one person dead.

At about 11:41 p.m. on May 10, NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a call of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. Upon arrival, they discovered an unresponsive adult male at the scene. The victim was declared deceased at the scene. Further investigation revealed that the victim was apparently struck by a passing vehicle that did not remain on scene.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

Official identification of the victim and cause of death in this incident would be determined by the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office.
