NOPD Arrests Suspect in Homicide Investigation

The NOPD has arrested Terry Blanks (pictured, black male, DOB; 02-26-1989) on a murder charge in the investigation of a homicide that occurred on May 5, 2022, in the 1900 block of Saint Ann Street.

Shortly before 11:45 a.m. on May 5, NOPD First District officers conducting a wellness check at the location located an unresponsive male victim inside of an apartment suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene. On May 9, the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office identified the victim in this incident as 48-year-old Edward Moore.

Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives developed and positively identified Blanks as the perpetrator in this incident. An arrest warrant was obtained for Blanks on one count of second-degree murder.

Blanks, who was previously incarcerated in relation to his arrest on charges in the investigations of an armed carjacking incident and an aggravated battery by shooting incident that both occurred on same day in the same block, was re-booked on May 9 on the second-degree murder charge.

Anyone with additional information on this homicide incident is asked to contact NOPD Homicide Det. Lucretia Gantner at 504-658-5300.
