OPD Announces Significant Violent Crime Arrests, Clearances Between May 16-21

Listed below are significant arrests or clearances through warrants or exception obtained between May 16-21, 2021 in investigations by the NOPD:

Homicide

  • On May 19, NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad today (May 19, 2021) arrested Abryanne Jones (pictured, black female, DOB: 08-06-1997) in the ongoing investigation of a homicide of Keenan Bayham on March 29, 2021 in the 5900 block of Boeing Street. Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives initially developed Jones as a person of interest in the investigation. However, as the investigation progressed, detectives determined that Jones to be a principle to the homicide. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Jones on a charge of principle to second-degree murder. Jones was located and arrested today without incident by VOWS officers. She was booked accordingly into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.

Shootings

  • On May 20, NOPD Fifth District detectives obtained arrest warrants for Devin Augustin (pictured, black male, DOB: 04-18-2001) and James Augustin (pictured, black male, DOB: 11-22-1997) for aggravated battery by shooting and illegal discharging of a firearm. The incident occurred in the 900 block of Forstall Street on May 20.   • On May 12, NOPD’s Violent Crime Abatement investigative Team (VCAIT) reported the arrest by the Violent Offender Warrant Squad (VOWS) of Wilbert Lamothe (pictured, black male, DOB: -01-04-1978) for attempted second-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, illegal possession of a stolen firearm and possession of firearm by a person convicted ofdomestic violence. The incident occurred at the intersection of North Roman and Touro Street on March 31.

 

Armed Robbery

  • On May 21, 2021 NOPD Fourth District obtained an arrest warrant for a 17-year-old juvenile male on charges of armed robbery and possession of a firearm by a juvenile. The incident occurred in the 3300 block of Garden Oaks Drive on May 21. There is a total of four suspects in this incident. The remaining three suspects remain at large.   • On May 16, 2021, NOPD Second District detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Joseph Ramirez (pictured, white male, DOB: 05-06-1988) for armed robbery and use of firearm during robbery. The incident occurred at Plum and Ferry Place on November 27, 2020.
