NOPD Identifies Wanted Suspect in Eighth District Shooting

The NOPD has obtained an arrest warrant for Malik Spencer (pictured, black male, DOB: 02-23-1998) in the investigation of an aggravated battery by shooting on May 9, 2021 in the 900 block of Canal Street.

During this incident, two victims were struck by gunfire and sustained life-threatening injuries.

As investigation progressed, NOPD Eighth District detectives developed and positively identified Spencer as the perpetrator in this incident. An arrest warrant was obtained on two counts of attempted murder and one count of illegal discharge of a firearm during a crime of violence.
