NOPD Identifies Suspect Wanted in Homicide Investigation

The NOPD has obtained an arrest warrant for Mikael Nelson (pictured, black male, DOB: 05-27-1989) in the investigation of a homicide in the 2200 block of Bartholomew Street on April 26, 2021.

At around 6:27 p.m., NOPD Fifth District officers were called to the scene of an aggravated battery by shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered one victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the hospital by EMS, where he was pronounced dead.

Through investigation, detectives developed and positively identified Nelson as the perpetrator in this incident. He is wanted on a charge of second-degree murder.
