NOPD Announces Significant Violent Crime Arrests, Clearances Between April 25-May 1, 2021

 

NEW ORLEANS – Listed below are significant arrests or clearances through warrants or exception obtained between April 15 and May 1, 2021 in investigations by the NOPD:

 

Homicide

      

  • On April 29, 2021, the NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad, the U.S. Marshals Task Force and Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Sharoy K. Williams Jr. (pictured, black male, DOB: 05-07-2002) in the investigation of a homicide on April 22, 2021 in the 1100 block of Nunez Street. Williams was extradited from Jefferson Parish and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on one count of second-degree murder and one count of violation of a protective order.

 

Shootings

  • On April 27, 2021, NOPD Fifth District detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Christopher Jackson (photo not available, black male, DOB; 08-25-1975) in the investigation of an aggravated battery by shooting on April 26, 2021 at the intersection of France and North Villere streets. When located, Jackson will be arrested on charges of second-degree aggravated battery, possession of illegal narcotics, illegal carrying of a firearm and illegal use of a weapon. Anyone with additional information on this incident is asked to call NOPD Fifth District detectives at 504-658-6050 or to call anonymously to Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans at 504-822-1111.
     

Armed Robbery

  • On April 29, 2021 NOPD First District detectives obtained an arrest warrant for a 15-year-old juvenile male suspect in the investigation of an armed robbery in the 3500 block of Tchoupitoulas Street on March 10, 2021. When located, the suspect will be arrested for armed robbery and illegal possession of a firearm by a juvenile.   • On April 28, 2021, NOPD Eighth District officers arrested Zachariah Woodruff (photo not available, white male, DOB: 11-04-1992) and William Hollinsworth (photo not available, white male, DOB: 08-19-1998) on charges of armed robbery. The arrests came in connection with an incident in the 800 block of Canal Street on April 28, 2021.​

 

Other significant arrests

      

  • On April 25, 2021, NOPD Second District officers conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Hollygrove and Green streets. During the traffic stop, the driver – identified as Javonte Thomas (photo not available, black male, DOB: 02-09-1998. As a result of that traffic stop investigation, the following items were confiscated, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms was notified: one rifle with attached sight, foregrip, and retractable slide; two handguns, one with an extended magazine; one rifle drum magazine; one pistol drum magazine; one body armor carrier with plates; and marijuana and other drug paraphernalia (photo of confiscated items above). Thomas was arrested and booked accordingly into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.

      

  • NOPD Seventh District officers arrested Damian Debose (photo not available, black male, DOB: 01-01-1989) in an incident in the 6500 block of Morrison Road after the subject fled from a reported stolen vehicle during a traffic stop. Debose allegedly fled from the vehicle while armed with a firearm that was stolen from Saint Tammany Parish and was apprehended by officers after he attempted to hide inside of an establishment after changing his shirt. A search of the reported vehicle revealed more than 68 grams of powder cocaine as well as body armor (pictured above). Debose was booked accordingly into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.
  • On May 1, 2021, NOPD Fifth District obtained an arrest warrant for Jerry Pipkins (photo not available, black male, DOB: 03-13-1998) in connection with an incident in the 2200 block of North Derbigny Street. Pipkins is wanted for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, illegal carrying of a weapon while in possession of narcotics, illegal possession of a stolen firearm.
