NOPD Investigating Fourth District Homicide

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred today (May 31, 2020) in the 2900 block of Preston Place

At about 2:36 p.m., NOPD Fourth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting in the block. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive adult male victim lying in the driveway of a residence. The victim was declared dead at the scene. At that point, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives assumed control of the investigation.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are available at this time.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
