NOPD Arrests Suspect in Multiple Fifth District Vehicle Burglaries

The NOPD has arrested Elliot Neville (pictured, DOB: 08-24-1998) in the investigation of multiple vehicle burglaries in the Fifth District.

At approximately 8:00 a.m. on May 4, 2020, NOPD Fifth District officers responded to the 800 block of Poland Avenue in reference to a call about an unknown subject reportedly breaking into multiple vehicles in the area. Officers arrived and observed a subject fitting the description near the area of Bartholomew and Dauphine streets. When officers approached the subject, later identified as Neville, he reportedly dropped a “glass breaker” hammer. Stolen credit/debit cards from various burglarized vehicles in the area were also recovered in Neville’s possession. Neville reportedly admitted to officers that he did, in fact, break into the vehicles in the area.

Neville was arrested and charged with five counts of simple burglary of a vehicle and one count of attempted simple burglary of a vehicle.

Fifth District Detectives continue to investigate the possibility of Neville being responsible for additional vehicles burglaries in the area.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact NOPD Fifth District detectives at 504-658-6050.
