Suspect Identified Through DNA in Eighth District Auto Burglary

Based on DNA evidence, the NOPD has obtained an arrest warrant for Jerome Alton Suggs (DOB: 08-07-1985) in connection with an auto burglary which occurred in the 300 block of Picayune Place on May 26, 2018.

At about 9:00 p.m., the victim returned to the vehicle only to find the rear passenger window shattered and items missing from the vehicle.

Upon investigation, the subject left several drops of blood inside of the vehicle prior to taking a black tote bag from the interior portion of the vehicle, which contained miscellaneous items.

A sample of that blood was obtained and tested for a DNA match, which delivered a match to Suggs. Based on this evidence, a warrant was approved on a charge of auto burglary against Suggs.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Jerome Alton Suggs is asked to contact NOPD Eighth District detectives at 504-658-6080, or call anonymously to Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
