One Killed, Two Wounded in Algiers Triple Shooting

The NOPD is investigating a triple shooting that killed one adult male and wounded two others in the Fourth District Tuesday afternoon.

Fourth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting around 2:52 p.m. near the intersection of Michael Street and General Meyer Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers discovered two male victims suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The occupants of two vehicles exchanged gunfire while traveling westbound on General Meyer Avenue at Michael Street. The driver of a gray Acura pushed a wounded passenger out of the vehicle onto General Meyer Avenue when they reached the intersection with Flanders Street. At that point, another individual exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot southbound on Flanders Street.

The driver then continued westbound on General Meyer Avenue and subsequently crashed into another vehicle not involved in the initial incident.

The passenger of the vehicle was transported by EMS to a local hospital where he later died. The driver of the vehicle was transported to a local hospital. His condition is unknown. The third victim, who fled the scene on foot, arrived at a local hospital a short time later suffering from a gunshot wound to the foot.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) in the other vehicle, as well as a motive.

No further information is currently available. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine an official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
