The NOPD is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred today (May 16, 2019) on MacArthur Boulevard near General DeGaulle Drive.

At about 10:45 a.m., Fourth District officers responded to a call of a vehicle accident with injury at the location. Upon arrival, investigators discovered that a male operating a motorcycle was traveling westbound on MacArthur Boulevard. At the same time, a silver Mercedes Benz was traveling eastbound on MacArthur Boulevard, making a left turn, northbound into a parking lot. At this time, the motorcycle crashed into the passenger door of the four-door sedan. At which time, the motorcycle operator was ejected.

The motorcycle operator sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The female driver and the passenger were injured and transported to a local hospital. They were both listed in stable conditional.

Investigation into the incident is ongoing. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will release the victim's name and cause of death, upon autopsy and notification of family.
