The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred Saturday afternoon (May 25) in the Fifth District.
Fifth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting around 1:25 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced dead on scene by EMS.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s name and official cause of death, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family. There are no additional details available at this time.
