NOPD Arrests Suspect for Illegal Firearm Possession in Eighth District

The NOPD arrested DeAndreian Meadows (DOB: 04-11-2000) on May 18, 2019 after he was reportedly found to be in illegal possession of a concealed firearm at the intersection of Bourbon and Conti streets.

At about 4:00 a.m., NOPD Eighth District Bourbon Promenade officers were patrolling in the 400 block of Bourbon Street when they saw a male subject walking near the intersection of Bourbon and Conti streets. When the subject stopped, he was seen using his right hand to cover an unknown object under his sweater near his waist. Officers suspected the object to be a handgun, based on its unnatural hard edge. The subject appeared startled by the presence of the officers and shifted his sweater in an apparent attempt to further conceal the object.

The officers stopped the subject – later identified as Meadows – and conducted a pat-down search of his person. During the search, Meadows was found to be in possession of a handgun as well as vegetative material which fit the description in appearance and odor of marijuana. Meadows did not have a permit to carry the handgun.

The officers relocated the subject to the station where he was later transported to the Orleans Parish Justice Center and booked accordingly.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the NOPD Eighth District at 504-658-6080.
