The NOPD arrested Maurice Laugand (DOB: 05-10-1944) on May 25, 2019 after he was found to be in illegal possession of a firearm in the Eighth District.
At or about 4:00 a.m., NOPD Eighth District Bourbon Promenade officers were flagged down by security at a bar near the intersection of Bourbon and St. Louis streets. The security guard informed the officers that a subject was at the location and in possession of a concealed firearm. Upon further investigation, the officers located the subject – later identified as Laugand – and conducted a search, which revealed Laugand to be in possession of a loaded firearm. Laugand was not in possession of a concealed carry permit and was also found to be a convicted felon.
Laugand was arrested and transported to the Orleans Parish Justice Center and booked for illegal carrying of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
