NOPD Arrests Juvenile Suspect in Seventh District Shooting

The NOPD has arrested a 15-year-old juvenile male in an aggravated battery by shooting that occurred on April 24, 2019 in the 6700 block of Wales Street and left three victims injured.

At about 4:45 p.m., NOPD Seventh District officers responded to the location on a call of a shooting. Upon arrival and investigation, officers learned that three male victims – identified as two 15-year-old juvenile males and an 18-year-old adult male – suffered gunshot wounds to the body. Two of the victims were transported to a local hospital via EMS, while the third victim arrived at a local hospital via private conveyance.

Two additional male victims were identified in this incident, but were not injured.

During the course of a follow-up investigation, NOPD Seventh District detectives developed the aforementioned juvenile subject as the perpetrator in this incident and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

On May 8, the juvenile subject – who had been previously arrested on April 26, 2019 for an aggravated assault with a firearm on April 21, 2019 – was re-booked for multiple charges at the Juvenile Justice Center in regards to the shooting incident. These include three counts aggravated battery by shooting, two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, illegal discharge of a firearm during a violent crime, possession of a firearm in a Firearm-Free Zone and juvenile in possession of a firearm.
