ARRESTED: NOPD Apprehends Suspect Wanted for Eighth District Burglaries

NOPD officers have arrested Christopher Charles (DOB: 10/03/1969) in connection with multiple burglary incidents that occurred in the Eighth District.

On April 30, 2019, an auto burglary occurred in the 100 block of Elk Place. The victim reported that his wallet, along with several other items were missing from the vehicle. The victim advised officers that an unauthorized transaction was made on his debit card, following the auto burglary.

Investigators reviewed surveillance video of the incident and observed a white male, who was later identified as Charles, enter the victim’s vehicle. The subject exited the vehicle a short time after with the victim’s belongings.

On May 11, 2019, an auto burglary occurred in the 800 block of Perdido Street. The victim reported that his driver side window was shattered, the inside of the vehicle was ransacked and a handgun was removed from the vehicle. Investigators reviewed surveillance video of the incident and observed Charles burglarizing the victim’s vehicle.

On May 13, 2019, a business burglary occurred in the 800 block of Convention Center Boulevard. Charles was observed on surveillance video entering the business and taking multiple items, before fleeing the scene.

Charles was located on May 17, 2019 near the intersection of Orleans Avenue and Bourbon Street. He was transported to the Orleans Parish Justice Center where he was booked accordingly.
