The NOPD is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred tonight, May 26, 2018, near the intersection of Frenchmen and North Dorgenois streets, that left an adult female victim dead.
At about 9:22 p.m., Fifth District officers responded to a call of shots fired in the area. Upon arrival, they learned that a female victim in this incident arrived at an area hospital via private conveyance with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive.
No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death of the decedent and release the decedent's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
