NOPD Investigates Homicide on Copernicus Street

NOPD Investigates Homicide on Copernicus Street

The NOPD Homicide Unit is investigating a homicide that claimed the life of a 27-year-old male victim.

Fourth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at around 7:37 p.m. in the 3000 block of Copernicus Street.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds inside a vehicle. The victim was later pronounced dead on the scene.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive.

No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
