NOPD Arrests Suspect in Homicide on Behrman Highway

Members of the NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad and the U.S. Marshals have arrested David Collins (DOB: 10-07-1980) as a suspect in the homicide of Kevin Dunkley in the 3900 block of Behrman Highway on April 18, 2018.

At about 9:18 p.m., Fourth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting in the area. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive male lying in the loading area of a storage facility suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The victim, later identified as Dunkley, was pronounced dead at the scene.

As investigation into the incident progressed, Collins was developed as the perpetrator. Collins was located and arrested on May 8 in the 100 block of Lighthouse Point in Slidell, La.

In addition to the homicide charge, Collins was also arrested on an active warrant for simple battery in an incident that occurred in May of 2011.

Collins will be booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on the aforementioned charges.
