NOPD has arrested a fugitive wanted in connection with two shootings and an aggravated battery with a firearm after a six-hour standoff in the Fifth District last night (March 24, 2026).
At approximately 3:00 p.m., NOPD Special Operations Divisions officers along with Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) officers, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) officers and Kenner Police officers arrived at a home in the 2400 block of North Galvez to arrest a wanted fugitive.
Upon making contact at the home, several residents fled and indicated that the wanted subject was inside. At that time, the subject barricaded himself in the home and refused to comply with officers' demand to exit.
Due to his status as a violent offender, and the belief that weapons were in the home, a SWAT roll was declared at about 5:24 p.m. A perimeter was established and nearby homes evacuated as officers attempted to negotiate with the subject and safely remove him from the residence.
At approximately 9:25 p.m., the subject surrendered to NOPD without incident. He was taken to the hospital for assessment and remains there at this time due to medical issues unrelated to the SWAT roll and his apprehension.
The suspect has been identified as 37-year-old Jullian Jefferson (Black male, DOB: 02/11/1989). Jefferson is wanted for an aggravated battery with a firearm in the 2300 block of North Claiborne Avenue in July of 2025. In this incident, he is accused of striking a woman with his fists and then hitting her in the head with a firearm.
In September of 2025, Jefferson is accused of getting into an altercation with a man and then shooting him in the abdomen. This aggravated battery by shooting occurred in the 1900 block of France Street, also in the Fifth District.
On December 25, 2025, Jefferson is accused of striking a man with a firearm and then shooting him in the leg in the 3100 block of London Avenue.
In addition to these charges, once released from the hospital Jefferson will be booked with resisting arrest, being a felon in possession of a firearm (as two weapons were found in the home), and being in possession of illegal narcotics (also confiscated from the home). Additional charges may be forthcoming.
Anyone with additional information about Jullian Jefferson is asked to contact Fifth District detectives at (504) 658-6050 or Crimestoppers anonymously at (504) 822-1111.
All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
