The NOPD is investigating a traffic fatality that occurred this evening (March 23, 2023) in the 13,000 block of Chef Menteur Highway that left one person dead.
At about 4:31p.m., NOPD Seventh District officers responded to the location and found an unresponsive adult male lying in the street near a motorcycle. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Preliminary investigation indicates the victim was driving his motorcycle eastbound on Chef Menteur Highway when he struck a pickup truck. The victim was thrown from his motorcycle. NOPD traffic fatality investigators are trying to determine the exact cause of the crash.
The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
The Orleans Parish Coroner's office will identify the victim and an official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
