The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred today (March 23, 2023) in the 6500 block of Vergilian Street in the Seventh District.

 At about 8:19 p.m., NOPD responded to a call of a shooting at the location.  Upon arrival officers found an unknown adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in a vehicle that had crashed in a parking lot. The victim was declared deceased on scene. 

At about the same time, NOPD was notified of another shooting victim who was taken to the hospital by private conveyance.  That victim is an unknown adult male who suffered from multiple gunshot wounds and is being treated at a local hospital.

 Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
