NOPD Investigating Homicide in First District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred this evening (March 29, 2023) at the intersection of Ulloa and South Pierce streets that left one person dead.

At about 5:54 p.m., NOPD First District officers investigating a call of shots fired in the area when they discovered an unresponsive male lying on the sidewalk and having sustained a gunshot wound(s). The victim was declared deceased on scene.

About two hours later, a second male gunshot wound victim was located in the 600 block of South Piece Street and determined to be connected to this incident.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the deceased victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
