NOPD Identifies Wanted Suspect in Seventh District Shooting Incident

The NOPD has obtained an arrest warrant for Norman Smith (pictured, black male, DOB: 07-01-1946) in the investigation of a shooting that occurred on March 27, 2023, in the 14000 block of Partridge Lane. The incident is believed to be domestic in nature.

At approximately 8:40 p.m., the female Victim and a known male were engaged in a verbal altercation. During the argument, the victim reportedly tried to remove herself from the situation when she allegedly heard a gunshot and realized she had been shot. The victim was transported to a local hospital via NOEMS. The suspect reportedly fled the scene.

Through investigation, NOPD Seventh District detectives developed and positively identified Smith as the perpetrator in this incident. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant on one count each of aggravated second-degree battery and for simple abuse battery (domestic).

Smith was last seen leaving the scene in a silver 2011 Toyota Corolla bearing Louisiana license plate VXU057.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
