NOPD Investigating Homicide in the Fifth District

NEW ORLEANS - The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred today (March 18, 2021) on Allen Street near North Miro Street.

At around 6:49 p.m., NOPD Fifth District officers responded to the location and upon arrival discovered an unknown male suffering with multiple gunshot wounds.  The victim was transported to University Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.  A second male victim was determined to be involved in this incident after he arrived at Ochsner Baptist Medical Center by private conveyance.  The second victim suffered a gunshot wound to the arm.  The initial investigation has revealed that both victims were traveling south on Allen Street, in what has been determined to be a stolen vehicle, when the shooting began.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive.  No additional details are available at this time. 

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
