NOPD Investigating Homicide in Seventh District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide this evening (March 14, 2021) in the 5900 block of Read Boulevard that left one person dead.

At about 7:27 p.m., NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim in the parking lot having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are available at this time.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
