NOPD Investigates Homicide in Second District

The NOPD is investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the life of one adult male Monday night (March 8) near the intersection of Leonidas and Forshey streets.

At around 11:31 p.m., Second District officers were dispatched to the scene of an aggravated battery by shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced dead on scene by EMS.

Investigators are in the process of gathering evidence and information that will help them identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive.

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine the official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
