NOPD Identify Suspect Wanted in Fourth District Battery, Assault, Kidnapping Incident

The NOPD has obtained an arrest warrant for Darran Boykin (pictured, male, DOB: 11-13-1994, 6’0”, 152 pounds) in the investigation of an incident in the early hours today (March 25, 2021)  in the 1500 block of Numa Street.

Through investigation, NOPD Fourth District detectives determined that at about 1:45 a.m., Boykin allegedly struck a male victim several times to the head and body with a firearm while the victim was asleep. Boykin is then believed to have struck a female victim with his hands, pointed the gun at her head and removed her from the residence against her will. Their whereabouts are unknown as of this writing.

Boykin and the female victim then reportedly fled the scene in a vehicle, described as a dark-colored newer model Hyundai sedan with an unknown Mississippi license plate.

When located, Boykins will be arrested on charges including aggravated second-degree battery, aggravated assault with a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, simple kidnapping, and battery on a dating partner.

Anyone with additional information on this incident or on the whereabouts of Boykin and/or the female victim is asked to contact NOPD Fourth District detectives at 504-658-6040, or to call anonymously to Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans at 504-822-1111 or toll-free 1-877-903-STOP.
