NOPD Seeking Suspect in Seventh District Homicide

The NOPD has obtained an arrest warrant for Hoa Phong Nguyen (pictured, DOB: 01-07-1983) in the investigation of the homicide of 42-year-old Huong Nguyen.

Huong Nguyen was reported missing to NOPD on March 11, 2020, after reportedly being last seen by the reporting person at around 5:26 p.m. that day prior to leaving her place of employment in the 8000 block of Crowder Boulevard. Her vehicle – a silver 2006 Toyota Camry – was also reported missing at that time.

On March 13, a vehicle matching the description of Nguyen’s vehicle was discovered parked in the 4900 block of Robin Hood Drive. A search revealed Nguyen’s body to be the trunk of the vehicle and having been shot. Nguyen was declared dead at the scene, and the investigation was transferred to NOPD’s Homicide Unit.

Through further investigation, detectives have positively identified Hoa Phong Nguyen – the brother of the victim – as the accused perpetrator in this incident and have obtained a warrant for his arrest on a charge of second-degree murder.

Anyone with information on this incident or on the whereabouts of Hoa Phong Nguyen is asked to contact NOPD Homicide Detective Michael Young at 504-658-5300, or to call anonymously to Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
