NOPD Investigates Homicide, Shooting on South Galvez

The NOPD is investigating a double shooting that left one man dead and one other injured today (March 12, 2020).

At approximately 11:11 a.m., Sixth District officers responded to a call of a shooting in the 1300 block of South Galvez Street. Upon arrival, they found a 44-year-old male victim with gunshot wound(s) to the body lying face down in the grass. EMS rendered medical care, however he later succumbed to his injuries.

A brief time later, officer learned a 28-year-old male victim arrived at a local hospital suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. He was listed in stable condition.

Upon further investigation, it was identified that the two shooting incidents were connected.

Investigation into this incident is ongoing. No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased victim and official cause of death, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
