NOPD Searching for Handguns Reported Stolen in Eighth District Incidents

The NOPD is seeking assistance from the public in locating two handguns reported as stolen in separate incidents within the Eighth District.

On March 10, 2019, the pictured Pera Ordnance 45-caliber handgun bearing serial number KO46490 (pictured at top) was reported stolen during a theft that occurred at about 11:00 a.m. in the 700 block of Iberville Street. The victim reported valet parking his vehicle on March 8, leaving his weapon in the center console of the vehicle. When the victim’s vehicle was returned on March 10, the victim found the handgun to be missing.

In the second incident, the victim reported on March 15, 2019, that he had parked his vehicle at about 1:00 a.m. at the intersection of Bienville and North Peters streets, leaving his FNH-USA 9mm handgun bearing serial number GKU014452 (pictured at bottom left) and his Glock G26 9mm handgun bearing serial number GKU0144552 (pictured at bottom right) inside of the vehicle’s trunk. The victim returned on the same date at or about 2:30 a.m. to find the driver’s side window of his vehicle had been shattered and the vehicle’s interior ransacked. The victim checked the vehicle’s rear trunk and discovered the two handguns to be missing.

Detectives are actively investigating these incidents, which are not believed at this time to be related.
