NOPD Investigates Homicide on Dwyer Road

The NOPD is investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the life of an adult male in the Seventh District.

On March 9, 2019, at or around 11:30 a.m., Seventh District officers responded to an aggravated battery by shooting in the 6500 block of Dwyer Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the upper torso area. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he later died.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s name and official cause of death, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family. There are no additional details available at this time.
