NOPD Arrests Suspect in Sixth District Homicide

The NOPD has arrested Robert Froeba (DOB: 03-14-1969) in connection with a homicide that occurred on February 27, 2019 in the 2900 block of Jackson Avenue.

At around 8:20 a.m., NOPD Sixth District officers were dispatched to the 2900 block of Jackson Avenue to a medical call. Upon arrival, they found an unresponsive unidentified adult male down on the ground, outside the front entrance of a church. The victim was suffering from apparent head trauma and was later pronounced dead on the scene by EMS.

As investigation into the incident progressed, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives developed Froeba as a person of interest in this incident. On March 6, Sixth District general assignment units were patrolling the area of Jackson Avenue and South Claiborne Avenue when they were able to locate and detain Froeba. Froeba was transported back to New Orleans Police Headquarters for questioning. After questioning, detectives determined Froeba to be the alleged perpetrator in this incident and obtained an arrest warrant for second degree murder. Froeba was arrested and booked accordingly into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will release the victim's name and the official cause of death upon completion of autopsy.

Anyone with additional information on this incident is asked to contact NOPD Homicide Detective Maggie McCourt at 504-658-5300.
