Suspect Sought by NOPD in Theft on Poydras Street

The NOPD is seeking to identify a female suspect in the investigation of a theft that occurred on December 23, 2017 in the 0 block of Poydras Street.

The victim told police that he remembered being at a bar in the 800 block of Iberville Street at about 2:21 a.m. that morning, where he was extremely intoxicated. He said that he believed an unknown bar patron called a ride share service to pick him up and get him back to his hotel in the 0 block of Poydras Street. The victim said he then remembered entering a small SUV of an unknown color, make or model with an unknown black male driver and unknown black female front passenger. During the ride, the victim said, the vehicle relocated to an area gas station, where he purchased additional alcohol. From there, the vehicle drove him to his hotel. At the hotel and outside of the vehicle, the victim said, he handed his cellphone to the female subject to hold, a cellphone which had a credit card holder case. The female allegedly did not return the phone to the victim, and the two occupants drove away. Upon returning to his hotel room and checking his credit card account, the subject reported numerous fraudulent charges made to his account.

Later that same morning, surveillance video at a local Walmart store captured an image of an individual identified as the unknown black female subject, who reportedly used the victim’s stolen debit card at the location.

Anyone with information on this individual or on this incident is asked to contact Eighth District detectives at 504-658-6080. Citizens with information that can help solve crimes are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
