Suspect Arrested for Multiple Auto Burglaries, Theft in Fourth District

Officers in the Fourth District arrested Cuong Hoang (DOB: 11-11-77) for multiple counts of auto burglary and theft.

The incident happened on March 12, 2018. Hoang was arrested after he was captured on video surveillance burglarizing numerous vehicles in the Algiers area including the 4400 block of Fields Street.

At about 3:30 a.m., while on proactive patrol, officers observed the subject at Aurora and Brunswick Court on a bicycle, carrying a backpack on his back. A detective immediately recognized the wanted perpetrator and called for assistance. Hoang then attempted to flee from officers, but he was later apprehended in the 6200 block of Kingston Court. During the apprehension, arrested subject was found to be in possession of numerous stolen items including burglary tools he used to shatter the windows of multiple vehicles. 

Hoang is also under investigation for several other reported vehicle burglaries that occurred during the same time period. He was also identified as the perpetrator in two shoplifting incidents that occurred two weeks ago.
