NOPD Investigating a Traffic Fatality on Old Gentilly Road

NEW ORLEANS – The NOPD is investigating a traffic fatality that claimed the life of an unidentified female victim. The incident happened in the 13800 block of Old Gentilly Road, this morning (March 31).

Around 4:45 a.m., Seventh District officers responded to a call involving a traffic accident on Old Gentilly Road. When they arrived, they discovered the female pedestrian suffering from injuries she sustained after she was struck by a male driver of a Honda motorcycle.

Detectives learned that the female pedestrian was walking westbound in the street when she was struck by the Honda motorcycle that was traveling westbound on Old Gentilly Road. The female pedestrian died on the scene. EMS transported the motorcyclist to a local hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

Blood and alcohol tests are pending. No charges have been filed at this time.

The investigation into this incident remains active and ongoing.

No further information is currently available. The Coroner’s office will determine an official cause of death and release the victim’s identity after completion of autopsy and notification of family members.
